This past Tuesday in Collo, we talked about regrets we have from the past semester and our goals for this upcoming semester. Naturally, I have a lot of regrets and even more goals. Two short-term, next-semester goals that I have are: 1. to watch one movie each week and 2. to read two books (outside of school assigned books) every month. Since I want to pursue a career in the film industry, I need to watch more movies than I currently watch in order to broaden my knowledge and also to inspire me. As I mentioned in my values blog post, I don’t read as many books as I should, so I’m setting a specific goal to read two books each month that are not involved with my classes. I want to have read a lot of the classics and I want to get back into reading like I was when I was younger– getting into a good book makes me happy and takes me outside of everyday worries. A little side note, but… thanks to Apple’s new “Screen Time” feature on my iPhone update, I am now aware of the ridiculous extent to which I overuse my phone, so it definitely will not be hard and will NOT hurt me to put down my phone for 3 hours each week to read some pages in a book I enjoy and to relax and watch a great movie. Lastly, I’m setting a long term goal for myself– a goal for about 5-10 years down the road. I’m promising myself that in 10 years (but most likely less), I will either 1. have a farm or 2. have had a film successfully presented at a film festival… or both… that would be nice.
